NIBRON SPECIAL ®

NIBRON SPECIAL, the flagship of Columbia Metals, is a triumph of invention - a superb engineering material with a combination of high performance properties not found in any other alloy. With mechanical properties equivalent to B7 bolting steel and with excellent corrosion resistance in a large number of different aggressive media, NIBRON SPECIAL is vastly superior to most other copper alloys and steels.

This specially formulated high strength, high modulus cupronickel is one of the strongest copper alloys currently produced. NIBRON SPECIAL is resistant to hydrogen embrittlement, sulphide, chloride, ammonia and amine stress corrosion cracking, while offering exceptionally low magnetism and resistance to sparking, galling and seizure. Recommendations for NIBRON SPECIAL include high strength bolting and critical sub-sea components in aggressive offshore environments, landing gear bushes and many other critical engineering components.

COLUMBIA 835

This is a high strength cupronickel mainly specified for marine use by the MOD as NES 835, with proven resistance to corrosion, bio-fouling and galling along with a good resistance to impingement. The alloy combines the benefits of both aluminium bronzes and cupronickels to achieve a high strength and a high impact resistant material along with a lower magnetic permeability than normal cupronickels and aluminium bronzes.

COLUMBIA 835 is readily machinable and weldable and can be hot forged and thread rolled without difficulty.

NB. COLUMBIA 835 is ultrasonically inspected for defects.
