Columbia's activities in the metal worldNEW MATERIAL STOCKS - LOW THERMAL EXPANSION ALLOYS
Whilst being predominantly known for its stocks of Non-Ferrous materials Columbia Metals is continually expanding alloy ranges and material types. The newest additions are the Nickel Irons, low thermal expansion alloys and glass sealing alloys, sometimes referred to as “NILO ALLOYS” or “INVAR” and “KOVAR” type materials. These alloys offer extremely low coefficients of thermal expansion from cryogenic temperatures up to 400ºC. Stocks of the four grades, ALLOY 36, ALLOY 42, ALLOY 48 and KOVAR, are now available in a comprehensive range from 1/8" to 4" diameter including both imperial and metric sizes. INVESTMENT IN NICKEL ALLOYS CONTINUES
Columbia Metals continues its investment in Nickel Alloys and has become a major force in all areas of Non-Ferrous materials. Over the past few months Alloy 625 and Alloy 718 have been added to the already impressive stocks of Alloy 600, Alloy 825 and C-276. These Nickel alloys offer excellent heat and corrosion resistance with typical applications being components used in aerospace, petrochemical and chemical plant, nuclear fuel processing, pulp and paper industries and gas desulphurization. Current stocks are held in round rod, but other product forms are available on request. PLEASE EMAIL FOR INDIVIDUAL DATA SHEETS.
MARINE ALLOY BROCHURE—NOW AVAILABLE
The encapsulation of all the recognized Marine Alloys stocked by Columbia Metals is now available in one document. This brochure offers designers, specifiers and enthusiasts a comprehensive guide to the range of alloys available with “seed packet” descriptions and typical applications. This literature has been designed and written to make the whole materials selection process easier and more controlled. SEND NOW FOR YOUR OWN COPY.
HUGE INVESTMENT IN BRASS AND COPPER TUBE
Recent revisions to our stock facilities has enabled us to re-invest and expand our stock range of Copper and Brass tube (C106 & CZ126 respectively). C106 is the most popular choice for Copper tube and should be specified for all non-electrical applications, especially those involving assembly by welding or brazing as it is not susceptible to hydrogen embrittlement. CZ126 on the other hand is a 70/30 Brass with a small addition of arsenic, giving the alloy dezincification resistance as well as good general corrosion resistance, ease of weldability and excellent cold working and polishing properties. Both grades are available in a comprehensive range of sizes up to 6” o.d. in various wall thicknesses.
