Forgings
Columbia Metals can offer customers specialist ferrous and non ferrous forgings as a part of our service capability. Our partnership with Forgia Rapida of Italy has enabled us to supply our customers with quality forged components that have been machined and ground.
With a dedication to short lead times and a strict adherence to quality control, Forgia Rapida have built a reputation for steel forging requirements. Initially concentrating on carbon steels, alloy steels and stainless steels, Forgia Rapida are now able to offer special forgings from many other materials including the following:
- 300 series stainless steels
- 400 series stainless steels
- 15/5PH and 17/4 PH
- 660 / A286
- Alloy 718
- Duplex / Superduplex stainless steels.
The forging plant operates under an ISO9001:2000 approval and is also certified by authorities such as Lloyds Register, RINA, ABS, Bureau Veritas and CERMET. With Forgia Rapida's vast metallurgical, technical and quality experience in the forging industry we can ensure all enquiries are answered quickly and effectively. Past customers and third party approvals include G.E. Gas, Alstom Power, Ingersoll Rand, Cooper Cameron and Tyco Flow Control.
The capability of Forgia Rapida enables them to produce many types of forging including the following:
- Impellers from 200mm to 900mm OD
- Flanges / Valves and Seats
- Shafts up to 350mm OD; 3,000 kgs, length 4,000mm max.
- Hollows / Diaphragms
- Rings 1,250mm OD max, 320mm height
- Pinions and Gears
- Casing and half casings; 3,000 kg max
- Crossheads / Supports
- Piston Rods 1,500kgs max. length 4,000mm max.
